Employee Leasing by a Professional Employer Organization (PEO):
Employee Leasing is the most comprehensive Human Resource and employee management arrangement, offering the greatest benefits for the employer. As the employer, you maintain full management control over the workplace: hiring, firing, employee development, raises, bonuses, etc. Your employees work for you, but your time is spent running your business, not on executing administrative tasks.
Features:
The PEO becomes the ‘employer of record’ and registers your employees under its State and Federal tax ID numbers. Michigan Payroll Services and its affiliated companies maintain your payroll records, handle State and Federal employment regulations, and ensure tax compliance. We become your ‘back office’.
Benefits:
Your time is spent running your business, not on handling paperwork. By pooling your employees with other businesses, you gain economies of scale in lowered administrative costs while maintaining direct control over your employees’ daily activities.
You can concentrate on sales, production, and company management—the functions that enhance your bottom line.
Administrative Services Organization (ASO):
Under the Administrative Services program, you report payroll to the ASO, which processes all payroll. Because payments (including net wages, taxes, and garnishments) are made from your bank accounts under your Tax ID Number, payroll and taxes are reported under your State and Federal Tax ID numbers.
The ASO maintains payroll records and handles all matters related to employment, such as unemployment filings and claims, workers’ compensation insurance claims, end-of-year reporting and the issuance of W-2 forms.
Features:
The ASO handles the paperwork associated with insurance administration and claims. The ASO can also assist you in exploring ‘pay-as-you-go’ workers’ compensation insurance, comprehensive health insurance plans, and low cost retirement savings programs.
Benefits:
With a full support staff of payroll and employee management experts working for you, the burden of payroll administration is lifted. All payroll records and employment matters are handled by the ASO, relieving you of the time-consuming and tedious paperwork of payroll and employee management.
Payroll Service Bureau (PSB):
This payroll-only option is the simplest and most basic service. You report the payroll numbers to the Payroll Service Bureau, which processes the payroll and prints paychecks. You will be provided with tax liability and deduction reports. You issue checks, make tax payments, and maintain payroll and employee records.
Benefits:
Payroll-Only offers the greatest affordability. In addition, you need not own payroll software nor keep up with tax rate changes. You will have a full support staff of payroll and employee management experts working for you.
